If you're using Absolute or Relative mode and you reach the end of your record, Scratch Live will call on emergency Internal mode to save the day, just make sure you're not scratching towards the end of the record, Internal mode won't know what you're on about and the scratches will be lost when it flips modes. Make sure you can get your head around Internal mode as well as it's handy to have as a backup. Try both Absolute and Relative to find out which is most compatible with you. There's a start/stop function and a pitch shifter for both fine and course adjustments along with bend up, bend down, rewind and fast forward. You can quickly access it on the left deck by pressing F3 or on the right deck by pressing F8. Great for when your equipment gets its fail on.

Internal mode allows you to play without the control vinyl. The settings for loops on keys 1 through 5 can be changed by scrolling across. For example pressing 3 will trigger the corresponding loop. You can also set auto loops by pressing Alt or Option and 1 through 5. You can adjust where the beginning and end lies by clicking the In and Out and using the Up and Down keys. You can set loops by loading a song, Shift + Left Arrow and pressing In and Out wherever you want the loop to start and end. These will help you find starting places or drops in your tracks easily. Setting cue points is as easy as pressing Ctrl or F + Alt + 1 through 5 on the left deck or 6 through 0 on the right. You can also use the sensor to flip it into reverse. Relative mode also has a few speed features rewind and fast forward, the longer you hold these buttons the faster it will go. This is great for when people get all up in your business and knock your decks. Relative will play from wherever you left off no matter where you put the needle. You can choose between the two options of having the beginning of the control vinyl at either your first cue point or the beginning of the track. You can quickly access it on the left deck by pressing F2 or on the right deck by pressing F7. Relative mode has some qualities of regular vinyl, like the way it plays forwards and backwards. You can quickly access it on the left deck by pressing F1 or on the right deck by pressing F6. It stops, it starts, it scratches and needle drops just as a regular record would.
